Thank you Valkyrien for you lovely comments on my blog today. The parrot is called a Rainbow Lorikeet and we have many of them coming into the garden to eat the nectar of the native plants.
They look a little like Prickly Pear cactus, though I'm not nearly familiar enough with them to say that for sure. I don't recall ever seeing the bloom on one before, and I'm pretty sure if I'd see it and it looked like this I'd remember.
I have no idea what the name is on the cactus! Only that it has very little dirt to live in - and has lots of flowers every spring! It is my boyfriends.......I kill cactus, I always give them too much water!

I think that white flower is just ethereal - I think that is the word I want. What I mean is that it looks almost too fragile to be real!!

The red thing is the fruit of the cactus. The birds and critters eat them.
