Today's Flower - Dreaming of last summer!

While it is snowing cats and dogs outside, I can allow myself dreaming of last summer! When it was so hot, even the flowers bowed in gratitude when showered with water from a sprinkler.

I do not know the name of this great flowerball - maybe someone can enlighten me?

The cool spray in the face on a hot summer day---now that is winter dreaming.

Lovely flower, it looks like an Allium. MB

Whatever it is, it's a beautiful color. Nice shot to have caught the water drops too.

Can it be a powder puff, too! I posted one on my blog but it looks a bit different. The stem and color are different. Oh I don't know ...

Very beautiful!!!

Mitt tips är att den berömda duschade växten heter kirgislök på svenska i alla fall. Torde vara från familjen allium dit även gräslök hör. Mitt tips ;-)) Ha en fin dag!

Thank you for all your kind comments! And also; now I know a bit more about the flower! Allium! When summer comes I will check with the owner of the flowers!

Anonym sa...

They are either Allium or Agapanthus, if you crush the leaves and they have a pungent/garlic smell then it is most likely Allium?

Inkivääri sa...

Beautiful flowers, perhaps some of many alliums like somebody said:)

I have been checking around on the internett today - and I believe Ross is the one with the right name! Agapanthus - or Lily of the Nile! They come in a lot of various types, mostly blue. I have a picture of one in blue form the same garden.

Det var deilig å drømme seg bort i dine fine sommerbilder en stund mens snøen laver ned ute. :)

Hi there,

I think these are alliums, not agapanthus. They are a member of the onion flower, and the flowers dry very well and look good for a long time in the garden. I love the lower photo, so lively! And all the photos on your blog. What a great flower photographer you are! Congrats on Guest Posting today.
